In early March, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney laid out his priorities for the city in his first ever budget address. He proposed investments in five major areas to provide early education opportunities for our youth, protect the financial security of our senior citizens through the pension fund, and make Philadelphia a place we are proud to call home. The proposed Soda Tax would bring in more than $400 million dollars in new revenue to support these critically-needed public initiatives. These tax dollars will fund the following programs:
